I believe in and try to practice three key things, reduce, reuse and recycle. I believe we are too dependant on foriegn oil, and drive a compact vehicle (Honda Fit) that gets about 35 miles per gallon. I try to do several things on one trip instead making several trips. We can all reduce fuel consumption a little bit here and there. When building our home, I selected brick, its made from natural materials, instead of man made vinyl or wood that has to be painted regularly. Engery efficient heat pumps, windows and appliances were also selected. I water my lawn 4-5 times a year, justenough to keep it green, this in turn requires only 4-5 mowings per year, reducing fuel use and carbon emmisions. REUSE, we often use feed bags as trash bags instead of buying plastic bags. All cloths that are out grown as well as toys, furniture and appliances, are donated to charity for reuse.Newspapers are used for the dogs and pups instead of being landfilled. RECYCLE, yard waste, pine cones and etc are given to the chickens to eat, used as mulch in the garden, or disced in to the fields to add organic matter to the land. Rabbit poop is also added to the garden, it is natures best fertilizer. In addition I am a member of Ducks Unlimited and The Nature Conservancy. These are 2 organizations that buy and restore land as habitats.  WILDLIFE spotted on the property, Bear, deer, owl, wild turkey, fox, possum, racoon, hawks, bats, wood peckers, beaver, rabbits and grey squirrels
